Add VOIP to older G3r
Hi all, I am new to this forum but looks like I may be able to get the answers I need here.
I have a Lucent G3r V.8 that I would like to add VOIP capability. Note: no data has been enabled on this switch (eg. H.320). My question is what will it take to add VOIP capability to say a Cisco VOIP system (2800)? I do not have a medpro circuit pack or a CLAN but can obtain one if needed. I am being told I need to upgrade to at least V.12 since none of the earlier versions are supported now. I would appreciate any input. Thanks dbsailor |

Re: Add VOIP to older G3r
The oldest Definity that will reliably support VoIP is 9.5. Even though older switches have some of the features they were not fully enabled and useful until 9.5.
Avaya will not make any customer option changes to a release 8 PBX because that is many years out of support by them and no one else has access to make changes. Last, Avaya will not upgrade you to anything less than the current release which in your case is a forklift upgrade. Sorry.
