MAP-D in CM 4.0

Hi All,

I would like to take your opinioin if MAP-D (with it's enabled services) still can work in Latest AVAYA CM Version 4.0? Anybody is working MAP-D in CM 4.0?

If working what problmes we may foresee in the future other than End Of Sales or Support?

with regards

Re: MAP-D in CM 4.0

I can't tell you if it will work or not, but the Map-D reached end of sale in April of this year - and latest info I received is that it reaches end of support in April 08.

Re: MAP-D in CM 4.0

As oozenoz points out, the MapD is almost dead. CM4 has better ways to do what the MapD provides. I am pretty sure that CM4 will support it but if it dies, you will have a problem finding a replacement for it.

MAP-D is not supported in CM 4.x
you should migrate to an AES server

MapD not supported in CM4?

Someone needs to tell our Avaya sales rep. He is providing us quotes for an upgrade from Definity G3r to S8720 with CM4. Since we have five G3r's networked in a BSR call center he has gotten an engineer to help him. They were specifically asked if the MapD was supported in CM4 and they both said yes.

I think your right, someone needs to talk to your sales rep.

Map D's should work in CM4.0, and you can get support for them. They are suported under existing contracts, but supposedly no new support agreements for them. Also, engineering support for Map D's is going away. Latest rumor is letters are going out as soon as this month reportng end-of-service for them. These are manufacture discontinued items, so even if a zealous sales rep gets one in, you may end up getting hosed in the long run.

Re: MAP-D in CM 4.0

Not looking for new ones, we currently have five of them in our G3r's plus four spare units in the crash kits. The question was will they still work and the answer is yes. Since replacing five G3r's with S8720's is very expensive the company is looking for ways to save money at the upgrade.

I have been told that the replacement for the MapD is essentially an S8500, adding five S8500's to the price is a big chunk of money.

Re: MAP-D in CM 4.0

Anything new with CM 4.0 needing those services require the new AES server as MAPD's are no longer sold or supported by Avaya unless you have a current maintenance contract. the AES Server or S8500 server is cheap it is the licenses that are a big chunk of the money

Re: MAP-D in CM 4.0

Ok, I will say it again.

These are not new services, they are existing services.

The current total for upgrading five G3r's is about $4M. That is a lot of money. The CFO wants this bid looked at again and any nonessential costs be removed. Reusing the existing MapD's is one reduction. Other reductions are to keep the existing GMCC cabinets rather than replacing them with G650's, and keep the Sun 3500 CMS servers with the R14 software. We are contemplating whether to keep the Intuitys also.

Everything is old, but $4M will not be approved.

Re: MAP-D in CM 4.0

Hi everyone,

we were encountering problems using Melita dialer with AES 4.0. The link was going down randomly. We're forced to install a MAP-D in CM 4.0 and the links got up. The problem now is that the link is showing the message "Angel seems tohave died" and the link is getting too slow. Anyone here have any suggestion to me?

Thanks in advance,
Carlos Leite

Re: MAP-D in CM 4.0

Be careful when migrating to an AES server. First make sure your adjunct vendors support CM4 with MAPD versus AES server. Also there are hidden costs with the AES server. Depending on protocol you are using CVLAN, TSAPI the license cost can be pretty big on the AVAYA side.

Re: MAP-D in CM 4.0

CM4 does allow for MAP-D's. CM5 configurators do not. AES can be had as bundled (with a server) or software only, (you provide the server). But as dlopez mentioned, RTUs are the pricier issue.
