Isdn Bri On S8300

Hi guys,
I have an S8300 in a G700 with a MM720 BRI card. The thing is I have ISDN trunks from the provider with a normal number and an MSN number (2 channels). Both channels ring at the same station, and when I call from them I always get the real number as a caller ID. The question is: is there a way to separate both channels, so each channel can ring at a place and 2 persons can use the same ISDN for outgoing calls with caller ID of the MSN number?? Please, if someone has an idea, it would really help me.

Technically, it is possible to have two telephone numbers assigned to a single BRI; we used to provision these as standard for voice for SOHO solutions when I worked for SBC - that way you could have one number assigned to human voice traffic and another for fax (just one example of how flexible you can be with ISDN).

Wouldn't be much different for you though - you would point each number to a different phone. As for the caller id presented when dialing out, the telco can force the main billing number so it always reads the same, or you could present each tn separately.

This is all dependent on your carrier's capabilities and legalities applicable to your country. Contact your telco to find out if they can do this for you.

One additional comment. Where I am the default is for the CO to present the main number on caller ID. If you want to do your own, you have to tell them so they will let your ID pass.

thanx guys sorry i didn't reply sooner.
The telco here is saying that he can't change the caller ID for billing purposes so i'll try another way to fix my problem.
The question is oozenoz how can I divide both channles within the S8300 as you have said for fax and normal calls?

I don't understand what your rep is telling you. There are two standard options for determining what will be presented to the called party on outbound calls, these are a) the CPE (your equipment) sends the calling number, which the telco passes along; and b) the telco forces your billing telephone number on all outgoing calls. If they are saying the second option is not a possibility, you can try sending nothing at all - this may force the telco to send your billing number. Not all equipment is capable of doing this, you'll have to check your documentation and play with it to see what comes across when you make a call.

As to your question about splitting the channels - when it comes to call control BRI is just a much smaller version of PRI where the channels are shared, first come first served. Generally speaking, if the circuit is idle, a new call (in or out) will use the first channel. What I described is a standard way of programming two telephone numbers (or TNs) on one BRI, each TN is provisioned to be able to make or receive one voice grade call only. If either TN is busy a second attempt will result in either a busy signal for an incoming call attempt, or reorder on an outgoing. In a SOHO where you have a phone and a fax (could just as well be two phones) you ensure one channel will always be available for either TN. The TNs can also have any of the standard CLASS services offered by your telco - call waiting, voice mail, etc.
