Pump up the volume
Happy December to everybody !
I receive a lot of complains from operators, about the call volume. We have 4620 sets (and the whole solution is IP), calls from outside are also over IP, so operators say, "If the quality is low, at least volume to be up". I've heard something about changing path loss or so but I can't afford to experiment. Can someone help me with a piece of advice ? |

Re: Pump up the volume
since these are all IP phones you can look into the 46xxsettings.txt file which is distributed to all Avaya IP phones from the TFTP server when booting. There are many default options in here you can change.
Also, you can manipulate the volume of trunks and internal calls. I wouldn't recommend doing this, as it does take some playing with to get right, but for those really picky customers that have to have it just perfect, I've had to go in and make some changes. the command is Change Location-parameters

Re: Pump up the volume
Check the 46xxsettings.txt file on your TFTP or HTTP server that is providing files for your phones. I am not sure if the older settings files have this, but the one I just implemented has AGC related settings for Automatic Gain Control.
## Automatic Gain Control (AGC). ## These settings enable or disable AGC. ## ## A value of 1 enables AGC. A value of 0 disables AGC. ## AGCHAND controls handset AGC ## AGCHEAD controls headset AGC ## AGCSPKR controls speaker AGC ## SET AGCHAND 1 SET AGCHEAD 1 SET AGCSPKR 1 Take out the '## ' at the front of the lines for AGC. Change settings from 0 to 1. Restart a phone or two. Restarting the phone will cause it to load the updated settings file. TEST and see if this helps. If yes restart more phones, if not put the file back the way it was forget this was ever posted. |

Re: Pump up the volume
The "1" is already there !
AGC can't discriminate sound from noise so it makes a nice overall volume. Agents actually want a brute increase :) I changed receive level with 3db in terminal settings; still waitin' for feedback. 10x for answer and ... keep in touch ! |

I tried to Spam URLs. I am completely retarded. People like me should know better than to try and Troll these forums. I should be tared, feathered, and beaten with the moron stick. I am utterly incompetent.

Re: Pump up the volume
Ignore the above post. Seems like the site admin has a filter blocking URLs from being posted. Sad, that was the easiest way for me to direct you to the information you need. All I can say is you should be adjusting the Audio Enviroment settings and there is a guide on the Avaya Support website. Look in the 4600 IP Phones section or PM me and I'll send the link.
