Post R6 PC Administration

Has anyone here tried to use the PC Administration software for R6 systems? I cannot seem to get connected to the system. I dial x76 & the modems seem to talk but I never get a password prompt?

Have you been able to connect using the older software with a different acs? I have NEVER been able to connect to an acs. Same thing as you, modems talk, but never a password prompt.

Yes, I did set up a password, but as I said, the system never even prompts me for a password?

I have tried every way to connect at every speed. I have also tried every release of an ACS. I connect to a Legend and Magix using both local and remote. I set up the admin password as my name at first I would get connected and it would ask for a password, but never complete the "hello" process. Now it loses connection right away, and never asks for a password.

This sounds just like what I have experienced? I have only tried to connect directly, not through an Auto-att or Operated Assist. I too can connect to Legend & Magix with no problem. Just this ACS R6 that is giving me trouble. If anyone here get's it to work...I would sure appreciate knowing how!

UPDATE. I just got the R6 software and tried to connect to a R4 remotely. Got it to work 1 time. Can conect locally, but it takes a number of tries. I did try it on a brand new R6 and can get in locally every time.

I talked to TSO about this...they said "it's a known issue" & left it at that! I have also discovered that the software doesn't like WinXP, works OK on a Win98 & probabaly on a Win2000 machine?

remove any older version of the software from your machine.

operator assist doesn't work.

direct dial is what you should use.

Unhappy Re: R6 PC Administration

Hello:
I recently installed a messaging R6.0 and have not been able to setup the PC Administration using HyperTerminal. I am using the rs232 port connection as directed in the manual. When I configure HyperTerminal as directed in the book 19200, 8, none, 1, none, the messaging module does not prompt for a logon. I have tried the other configuration as specified in the read me: 38400, 8, none, 1, none, but still no go. Does anyone know if this process actually works, or am I doing something wrong?

I too have never been able to get this work, and just recently heard that if you use an EXTERNAL modem at YOUR end (instead of the internal modem on your laptop) you should be good to go. Haven't tried it yet though (remote partner access not terribly high on my priority list). If someone has an external modem handy and wants to give it a go, let us all know.

Cheers,

Cephas

Re: R6 PC Administration

I can connect to them by using an external modem. For some reason all the computers modems that I have, are not cmpatible with the modem in the ACS.
