The yellow test light won't go out, and from the HDD clattering, I suspect it is the Hard drive. Can I get a replacement hard drive? Anyone know the disk format so I can get at the old voice mails? We also have a memory card. Does anyone know what is stored on the PC "Mailbox Expansion" card? Is that where the voice mails are kept?

Re: Help, my Partner Mail VS R4.0 is busted
You will more than likely have to replace the unit. The Mailbox Expansion card is only to give you more mailboxes and there's usually 4 ports and 40 mailboxes 4 ports and 20 mailboxes and some other scenarios. What do you currently have? Just getting the hard drive may work if you can find the right release of software. Either way there is no way to recover the lost data and it will have to be reprogrammed. The VS mail didn't backup until R5.0 and the newer Partner Messaging has the capability also to backup so in case of this happening again you don't lose all of your translations.

Re: Help, my Partner Mail VS R4.0 is busted
Our PC Card is 4 ports/20 mailboxes. I have some very old messages from my daughter that for sentimental reasons I would like to recover if possible. Do you think they are on the hard drive or the PC Card? Any idea what data format they would be in or what OS Avaya is running on the Motorola 68000 CPU? My guess is some form of Unix.
Thanks, Pete |
