constant ringing

I have a Partner system that has 3 standard modules with approx 5 lines coming into it. The main line which is on port 1 of the main module, when connected continuously rings and when you go to answer it all you hear is dialtone. You hang up and the phone rings again and again.

I unplugged the line going into that port which stopped the ringing. I moved up 2 other lines to that port and the ringing starts again. Is this common when a line port goes bad???

Re: constant ringing

I've seen this behaviour on several different systems. Regardless of whether it is common though, you've clearly proven you have a bad port. Move the main line to another port.

Re: constant ringing

With Partner systems, sometimes the easiest solution to strange problems is to unplug the system, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in.

Re: constant ringing

all's well now.. had the processor replaced as it was covered under maintenance. They say line 1 is a sign the processor is shot. I had no spare slots for lines so I needed that port.
