We have a Partner 7 system at a tiny remote office. IT has not been touched in years, since being initially set up, by an AT&T tech.
I am by trade a definity tech and have had no experience on a Partner 7 and I have a few questions. There is no terminal on the system, just a serial port. Can I acces the device using a laptop? Can I use ASA? Once I am able to connect, does the Partner systems use the same login and password structure as the Avaya? (ie: cust, dadmin...) |

Re: Access to a Partner7
It's a whole different world. The Partner programs from a display set at Ext. 10 or 11. You dial program codes, then the data. You can also step through the programs.
You can also get remote access software from the Avaya site, it there is a Remote Access card in the processor module. Then you download the translations, modify them from within a GUI, save the new translations and upload them to the Partner. Then "restore" the system from the new translations. |

Re: Access to a Partner7
what about an older partner system? can u access this as well via the same means? What does the remote access card look like and how much configuration is needed and does it just use one of the lines in the system to dial into?

Re: Access to a Partner7
The partner needs to have a Remote Access Card installed for you to "dial" into it. You can also connect locally by plugging your modem in your laptop to a station port. Also you will need the avaya PC Administration software to interface with the system. Here is the link where you can download: https://support.avaya.com/japple/css...ucketID=108025
You have to set the partner with a password, it does not use the same format as the Definity line. Hope this helps... |

Re: Access to a Partner7
I think you can use a laptop. Theres no ASA, but there is Partner PC Administration which you can get at the Avaya's support site. Its GUI based, no worries of Command Line, and the login sturcture, is whatever you want for the username and password from the best of my knowledge. Partners and Definitiys are completely different animals and should not be compared to.
Hope the answer helps! |

Re: Access to a Partner7
is the remote access card something easy to install or should I have the maintenance company do it? Is there set procedures I would be able to follow? it's not for a r.7 it's for a r.5

Re: Access to a Partner7
The remote access card is a PCMCIA card that goes into one of the slots on the Processor, WITH THE POWER OFF.
You may already have one. At a phone, press Intercom, and dial 76. If a modem answers after a couple of rings, you're good to get started. |
