I have a customer that just moved to a new office space. They have an ACS and all Partner-18D sets. Six of the seven sets have noise and music in the background during intercom and outside calls. The processor is grounded and there is no MOH source (not even a radio within the space). The loop-start trunks are not the source, and the sets sound perfect when connected directly to the 308 cards. It seems to be the station cable. Anyone know of an RF filter that will work for partner stations? Any other suggestions?

Re: RF/radio noise on Partner sets
Tell the customer it's not worth the $20 savings per run to get an electrician to run cables!
Seriously it sounds to me like the cables were run over light ballasts, etc. You'll probably have to re-run the ones where you are getting noise. You MIGHT try grounding the brown pair in each of the cables though - unless they were wired on 2 pair JKT :) Peter |

Re: RF/radio noise on Partner sets
I agree with Peter. I had a problem like that and ended up getting in the ceiling lifting and moving cables away from the lights and AC motors. Good Luck with your problem. Let us know how you resolve the situation.

Re: RF/radio noise on Partner sets
I just had a problem on a customer site doing the same thing. We ran new cables, etc... The final answer was the Processor. Just a thought to keep that in the back of your mind. We never could understand exactly why it was clear at a close point, but dead farther off.

Re: RF/radio noise on Partner sets
If you get some ferrite rings (my local telecom supplier stocks them) and wind the pairs feeding the phone through them, it should cut the RF. I've had amazing luck with doing this, although sometimes you need to wind the pairs at both ends of the run. Usually, I pull off the jack, strip back about six inches of sheath and wind each individual pair through a ring as many times as I can. Put the jack back on, plug in the phone and test.
