Avaya PCS Newbie (Need help for configuring SMDR)
Hey guys/girls,
Here is the scenario. My friend has a Avaya PCS Model #103g15(28)R6. He wants to monitor the calls through the use of a call accounting package. The SMDR port on the PBX is RJ45. My plan was to use a cat5 cable plug one end into the PBX and then use a RJ45 to serial (DB9) converter to connect the cable to the computer's serial port. My problem comes here. I'm not sure what color coding the Cat5 cable should use (wheter cross-over or straigh-through) also I don't know what color code the RJ45 to Serial adapter will use at the serial end. Can anyone help. Thanks. |

Re: Avaya PCS Newbie (Need help for configuring SMDR)
Purchase an Avaya 355-A or 355-AF adapter to go from the 8-pin RJ-45 to a 25 pin serial connector (the A is male, the AF is female), then an adapter to go from that DB-25 to a DB-9 to connect to the PC. Use a regular old cat-5 patch cable to connect from the SMDR port of the Partner to the 355-A adapter.
The adapter will only cost around $35 to $45 |
