Where and how do you get Norstar certification? What kind of certification is it?

Nortel will do certifications on all of its hardware (Meridian, Norstar, etc.) All you need to do is find the right training system for you. Just type in "Nortel Networks Certifications" on any search engine, and you should be able to find many companies that do the training. Shop around for the best price though!

The Training center in california is in La Palma, just a few city blocks from Knott's Berry Farm. Thats where I got my training from. It is pricey though. Most good classes are usually 2 weeks long so be prepared to be out of work for that long. It hurts if your self employed but the benefits are awesome.

In order to get "Nortel Certified": Things have changed a LOT in the past few years since the Training Center was sold off to Global Knowledge. For the most part, Nortel has moved toward a proctored testing model such as Cisco and Microsoft. Course attendance at Global Knowledge and the subsequent Assessment Tests are for in most cases of little significance. What matters is you pass the Certification Tests that are available at Thomson Prometrics. They are 150.00 per test.

Thanks for the information on the certifications. I am primarily Avaya, but the company that purchased us is all Nortel, so we are making the switch. They have the 81c, 61c and 11c/mini. I think they are going to give us an 11c mini to cut our teeth on for about a month.

I am trying to get used to the loads for everything. I hope it will be easier in about a month.

Anyone know of any training or cerification centers near the Chicago area?
