Nortel Network T7406 Cordless
Hello, We just purchased a new T7406 Cordless Phone and followed all the instructions but will not get out of scanning.... mode. The S.S. code was accpeted by the Base Station. ID is correct. THe company we purchased it online from doesn't have nor offer support nor does Nortel. Please Help Thank you

It's been a while since I installed a T7406 and I can't remember how the various problems manifest themselves. Try plugging a M7310 set into the jack that the base station is plugged into to make sure that the port, ISW, jack and jumpers are all good. Make sure that you have the cord plugged into the correct jack on the base station. Unplug the base station from the power, take the battery out of the handset and go have a coffee. Come back and start from scratch. Having said all that, I have had to replace more than one base station and a few handsets as well, although I have never had an out-of-box failure with new equipment. If you don't have spares to test with, you cannot possibly peg down the source of the problem.
