Question Mailbox issues

Let me preface this by saying that my office inherited responsibility for the phone system, but that none of us here has a lot of experience with it. (Norstar Plus with Flash mail) We make all changes with T7316 handsets.

I used to share an extension with another tech. When he moved to another office, he moved the extension (but apparently not the physical phone) to that location. This part apparently worked fine, as the old number rings at the new location for all calls and the mailbox operates normally. He assigned that location's number to my phone and created a new mailbox for me.

I set up the new mailbox and everything seemed fine until I noticed I wasn't getting any messages. I've deleted and added this mailbox numerous times now and I'm stumped. When inside extensions call my phone, it rings but instead of going to the extension's mailbox it goes to general delivery. When outside callers dial my extension at the menu, it goes right to the mailbox without ringing the phone.

What am I missing?

It sounds like the set has lost its Forward no answer and forward on busy settings. These are set in the administration level of the KSU.
When you call your extension it should forward to the mail's main ext in 3 or 4 rings whatever is defined, if you call yourself and it does not forward then that is your issue.
Login to the admin settings for your set and make sure they are active or set to the right extension.

Fwd no answer and fwd busy both appear to be set to forward to the Voicemail extension. The mailbox is empty. Using Feature 981 from the phone doesn't seem to be connecting to the mailbox directly, however, as I get the 'Log:' prompt instead of just the password prompt.

It sounds like the extension has not been "attached" to the mailbox.
If memory serves there is a setting where you set what mailbox to use with what extension, I think your's is blank which is why you get the LOG: when you hit F981.
It should be in the administration settings as well.

SO if you are ext 300 it should be mailbox 300 etc.

Sorry this is vague I haven't worked on Norstar for about 5 years.
