Adtran TSU 100
I will be intstalling a CICS next month that has to be networked with the customers other location 90 miles away. There is a Opt. 51C at the other location. The cust. wants a T1 installed with extension dialing between the two locations. The specs call for an Adtran TSU 100 with an FXO and FXS card at both sites.
I know the Norstar well, but have never done this. Can you get me pointed in the right direction on a couple of things on the CICS side? 1) Hardware connections between the Adtran and CICS. 2) Brief overview on programming the CICS to allow extension dialing between the two locs. |

Re: Adtran TSU 100
This is pretty easy mang! All you have to do is run an FXO in yer TSU on the Meridian side and run standard 500 ports into it, on the Norstar side you will need the FXS board, this brings your lines out and into the Norstar, just the same as you would connect standard POTS lines. You should be able to use the default port configurations and tandem options in the ADTRAN's, just make sure that you make the channel assignments the same on both ends (except FXO/FXS). As far as accessing by dialing extension numbers, the easiest and least likely to be a headache/service call is to put the extensions/lines in a hunt on the Meridian side, and use them just like co trunks on the Norstar side. You can dial extensions to reach the Norstar and vice versa, plus save money by not having CO's and LD charges between locations, you will want to program a LINK key on the Norstar phones to facilitate transfers etc. (hookswitch mimicing flash key), and they will have to dial 9 to access a trunk, unless you set them up to automatically select a trunk route, which I wouldn't recommend. You failed to mention if you are looking to dial direct to extensions in the norstar(ie DID), if you are then you are not getting the right equipment. Hope this helps.
