Legend dialing issues- won't break dial tone

Hello all, new to this forum but I'm sure I will quickly fit in.

Here is what I have; I'm a tech for the Navy, and I am troublethooting a Merlin Legend system with what appears to be a unique fault. I have experience with the Dim 2K, but nothing else other than general phone know. I also don't know which version/release but I believe 6.0.

The analog phones will intermittently not break dial tone. This is affecting all of the analog phones only and all of the 016(?) cards are used up. From the error codes 4C01,4C02,4C03 it appears that the system is getting tied up due to the number of users. Usually after several seconds, and after several dialing attempts/hang-ups the phone will be able to break dial tone and the call goes through.

Other than expanding with another 016 card to add more lines, is there something in the programming that would alleviate this, and what exactly is causing this? Again, I don't have experience with the system but I have searched the manuals and nothing covers this except something to the effect of TTR's not being available?

Thanks in advance.

You do not have enough trunks in your pools.

When someone dials a "9", it grabs a line from the default pool (if there are lines available). If there are no lines available, you get errors like you are seeing.

You have an 016 card, which is 16 analog extensions. How many lines do you have?

List out the cars you have from left to right.

Re: Legend dialing issues- won't break dial tone

The issue is only ocurring when dialing internal to internal, though if someone was dialing an outside access code, it also wouldn't matter as the telephone won't break the dial tone. I have done the TTR check and TTR 13-16 are bad, which would indicate that the second 016 TTR's have gone kaput- right?

The cards in order are:

P/S
CKE4
408 GS/LS MLX
408 GS/LS MLX
016 TTR
016 TTR
016 TTR
016 TTR W/ Ring Gen
800 GS/LS
100D
007 MLM

Vintage 01, 7.0 14.2

You probably have one or more bad Touch Tone receivers.

Your system has 18 total, if I am counting them right.

These can be tested one at a time to see if you have one or more that are failing.

If you email me, I can explain how. (It is not something we want to post publically.)

Re: Legend dialing issues- won't break dial tone

MerlinMan,
I actually did test the TTR's and as I had posted 13-16 are bad which are all on the 4th 016 module, which is somewhat different than the previous three as it says 016 W/ Ring Gen.

I understand it has a ring generator, but do any of the other modules have one either? Would that possibly have be the cause if it is the only one?

All 016 T&R Modules should have ring generators, and it sounds like you have a bad module (at least as far as TTR's are concerned).

Make sure it is not busied out before you replace it, in fact, I would swap it with a known good one to see if the trouble moved with the module, or stayed in that slot.
