Half the phone work and the other half are dead
I have a merlin classic and half the phones are not working and the other half are. I have a extra card to swap out with the bad card. Do I need to do anything else beside shut down the system and replace the card?

After replacing the card, you may need to do a system renumber in order for the switch to recognize the card. I've done it without a sys renumber, sometimes it will work without it and sometimes not. All a sys renumber does is force the switch to recognize all the cards. Be sure to power down the switch first though.

A Merlin Classic won't require a board renumber (Classic is Avaya's "spin" on the control units pre-Merlin Plus)
Just power down, remove the old board, install the new board, power up and cross your fingers. |
