Audix rebooting 2 times a day
Hello to the group and thank you for taking time to read my post.
I have inherited a Merlin Legend and Intuity Audix (ver 3.3). The executive secretary did a lot of the basic functions but is not very technically adept. The system is beyond end-of-life support and, once I was told this, began quickly to get an RFP on the street. In the meantime, we have a problem and would surely appreciate any light you can give to the subject. Over the past few weeks, the system is self-rebooting (aka crashing) 2 to 3 times per day. Appearantly, it was doing it but at a much slower rate, over the past few months. My thinking is that it is probably not hardware, because when it fails, it usually fails completely (hard drive crash, motherboard frying, powersupply failure etc.). Is there any way to boot the system and check for things like: full hard drive, corrupt or highly fragmented files, etc.? What should I be looking for, in a voicemail system that self-reboots often? I'm trying to nurse this one along just for another month or two if I'm lucky. Again, thank you so much for any help you can give. I will be appreciated by many many people here and across the country. Cary |

Re: Audix rebooting 2 times a day
Thanks for your reply.
In answer to the first part - yes. It was on a fairly substantial ups, along with some other gear. Just to separate potential issues, I moved it to a completely different circuit and off the shared ups. It didn't change the characteristics any and the system system is still acting the same. As for deleting any unused mailboxes, my answer is: I'll have to check. It's possible there are some there. I'll reply later, on this item. Thanks again for your help and any additional suggestions would be welcomed. Cary |

Re: Audix rebooting 2 times a day
Take the system down and perform a reboot yourself. Avaya reccomends rebooting the intuity every 90 days.
Backup system, stop voice, shutdown system then turn off the power switch and actually remove the AC powere for about 30 seconds. Bring the system back up If that doesn't solve the problem it's more than likely a motherboard or hard drive issue. When you perform the reboot you can scan the whole system with F2 I believe, it will show up on the screen when the system is coming up. I'm assuming you don't have maint on the intuity |

Re: Audix rebooting 2 times a day
Thanks everyone.
It turns out that the power supply was fading fast. I've seen them go out, but never saw one degrade slowly, then increase steadily in number of crashes. It lasted over 4 months. Replaced the power supply and everything is good again. We already have requests for bids out. So we didn't want to spend lots of $ on the old system when we knew it was going to be dismantled shortly anyway. thanks again. |
