Merlin Mail Message Waiting Lights

This is Merlin Mail MM04 version 2.2 running with a Legend R3 processor and MLX phones. Yesterday everyone's message waiting lights were working properly. This afternoon, everyone's message waiting light came on, even though their mailboxes are empty. Other than that VM is working fine.

Is there a way to force the message lights off? I've looked through the manuals and they mention turning the light off, but don't mention how!

In the newer firmwares you can turn them all off (or better yet force the VMS to refresh them) from the operator console. With that museum piece you've got you'll have to resort to going to every phone. Be thankfull you at least have MLX (gen 2) instead of BIS (gen 1) phones. FYI we are on to generation 3 phones now, the 4400 series.

Press Menu (beside the display) and look for Msgs (or similiar), press the softkey beneath it, and then hit the delete softkey until all messages are gone.

You'll have to do this at every phone where the MWL is stuck on.

Well my motto has always been "yesterday's technology tomorrow". Maybe we'll get lucky and the Smithsonian will want to buy it off of us.

Incidentally, does anyone have an idea why this might have happened?
