ARS hunting
CEPHAS
I have a site with extensive ARS tables. I was told some information from another, more knowledgable tech, that this system is working correctly, but I dont beleive so. Pool 890 is an outgoing T1 (full) they have 4 more pools as back ups with pool 70 being the 5th and final resort. The site simulated a T1 shutdown by unplugging the cable from the DS1 board. Then tested the outgoing long distance by dialing a number in the first table. It was dead air. What the experienced tech is saying is it takes the system a try at each trunk in the T1 before the system realizes that the T is down. IS THAT RIGHT? I would think if T1 unavailable, should go to the next pool, shouldnt it?? |

Re: ARS hunting
In that case, without reviewing your actual programming, I would say the other tech is probably correct. I would personally want to verify it by dialing that number 25 times after pulling the cord out, and see if it works after the system has tried every line on the now down T.
BTW if this turns out to be the case, you can cut the time in half in the event of a real T1 failure by activating the maintenance busy option. It busy's out a pool anytime half the trunks are OOS. Also, if your customer went PRI instead of T1, you would get the desired effect immediately. Peter |

Re: ARS hunting
i would rather believe that as long as your t1 connects directly to the pbx that it will know the status of the span/all dso channels when a loss of signal happens. trunks passing through a channel bank arrangement may be differenet.

Re: ARS hunting
I would rather believe all kinds of things, dude... but if it comforts you... :)
It's conceivable that there is simply a problem with the way the ARS programming has been done, but as I said without reviewing the actual programming the simplest way to test... Phone dude, let us know what you find out. If it still doesn't dial out after 25 tries, post your ars printout text file and I'll look it over. Peter |
