Defective DRM for Transtalk?

We have a Merlin Magix r2.2 with a 016 ETR board and a 600A1 DRM. We've only been using one line of the DRM for a single Transtalk 9040 for 18 months. We lost the 016 ETR board due to a power surge 12 months ago. We replaced it and the DRM and transtalk were back in business. Now 12 months later, our transtalk was starting to loose its ability to connect with the DRM. We thought it was because the handset was damaged due to a drop that cracked the case a little. The batteries no longer held in place as well as they used to and sometimes would wiggle out of contact and shut the phone down. Other times the phone would lock up and not ring. We purchased a new handset and tried registering it with the DRM in place of the old handset. We couldn't unregister the old one. The handset didn't display an unreg option on the registration configuration screen. We were finally able to register the new handset (w/o unregistering the old handset) to zone 1 by unplugging the line 2. Still, the new handset would not go off-hook 90% of the time. Same poor results from attempting wireless tests. Do you think the DRM is damaged? Maybe due to the power surge that fried the ETR board? I'm trying to get a loaner DRM from Cerium Networks our telecom hardware vendor, but it is taking some time. Any other hardware vendors out there willing to let me troubleshoot with a loaner? If that solves the registration and connection errors then I will need to buy a new DRM.

Thanks,
Dave

Smile Re: Defective DRM for Transtalk?

We replaced the DRM with a new one from Cerium and our problems are solved. If you ever have a problem with a transtalk not registering, try replacing the DRM. Props to Cerium for offering to waive the restocking fee if the DRM wasn't the issue.
