Question Board renumber

Can any one tell just what a Board-renumber does ? when to use it? when not to use it? It seems like its a soft reset and a general clean up command. Am i way off base

Thanks

Off base? No, not really. Specifically it's meant to be used anytime you add a new card, or especially change an existing card. It goes through all the ports and redetermines what logical id's and extension/trunk numbers should be allocated to them. However, it does occasionally clear up odd problems so many techs do use it as a clean-up.
