Option 11C COS & Area Codes

Hi. We need to build COS 1 with an area code in the Option 11C. We want certain employees to only be able to make local calls on a 2008 telephone. Can you give us the steps to do this? Thanks Hope this is enough info.

Re: Option 11C COS & Area Codes

Trish,

If you are not familure with BARS programming in LD 86, 87 and 90 this could get a little complicated so bare with me.

All of your sets have an NCOS assigned to them.
All NPA's have a route list (RLI) assigned to them which determines which routes a call should be sent out on.
When programming the RLI you can have more then one entry and each entry is assigned a route and an FRL for that route.

Think of the FRL for a route as how much it cost to use that route.
Think of the NCOS of a set as how much that set has to spend to complete a call./
If the FRL of route 1 is 3 and the NCOS of the set is 1 then that set cannot afford to use route 1 to place a call.

When a set is used to place an outside call the system looks at the NCOS of the set then looks at the NPA to get the route list (RLI) then looks at the RLI starting with entry 0 to see what route is assigned and what the FRL of that route is. If the FRL is 2 and the NCOS of the set is 2 or higher then the set can use that route to complete the call. If the FRL is 2 but the NCOS of the set is 1 then the set cannot use that route to complete the call. If there is more then one entry in the RLI the system will chaec the next entry to see if the set has a high enough NCOS to use that route for the call. If the FRL of all of the routes is highe then the NCOS of the set then that set cannot use any of the routes to place a call.

You need to set the NCOS of the restricted set lower then the FRL of all of your routes and then change the FRL of the route used for local calls to match the NCOS of the restricted sets.

example:
all sets have an NCOS of 3 or higher.
all routes for local and long distance have an FRL of 3
all sets can use any route to complete any call.

example 2:
all sets have an NCOS of 3 except the ones you want restricted which have an NCOS of 1
long distance routes have an FRL of 3
local routes have an FRL of 1
all sets with an NCOS of 3 can place local and long distance calls.
restricted sets cannot place long distance calls but can place local calls.
