Simultaneous Desk phone and Soft Phone Query
Hope someone can help with a query I have.
I'm work for a UK Company that owns a Meridian 61C and Symposium. We run a mix of traditional digital and IP telephones. Our contact centre runs M2216 (legacy) feature phones. My question is related to Soft Phone functionality. I am aware of the i2050 soft phone solution offered by Nortel, but my understanding is that this operates as a dedicated phone off the switch (I presume as an extension off an ITG card). As we work in a mission critical centre I need a soft-phone solution to work simultaneously with a desk phone (in our case the M2216 - although it could be any phone potentially). If we experience any failure of the computer system the user could revert to using the desk phone. i.e the desk phone and the soft phone are operating simultaneously. I remember the days of Symposium Agent which introduced TAPI interface development for such models, and now the recently announced Nortel Communications Control Toolkit (NCCT) could offer a possible solution but I am interested to hear if anyone else has implemented anything similar with third party products or in-house development. Any links or responses gratefully received. |
