What is it all about, I notice a button under my name with points? I only ask out of curiosity, I like the board's layout quite a bit.

The work Karma is not a good description. It should be changed to Reputation.
The goal is for users to give or take (if enabled) Reputation points to those who deserve them.
there are other way to earn them such as number or posts, etc.

We plan to use them more in the future.
