Avaya / Cisco Pros & Cons

Has anyone done a "pros & cons" analysis between Cisco's Call Manager and Avaya's S8700 offering? If so can you share info?

Re: Avaya / Cisco Pros & Cons

if you are running VOIP on both systems... (cause the avaya can be configured as a PBX, and the call manager is only VOIP)
-the avaya is more versitile and flexible when programming. ie ARS tables, route partitions, etc...
-the cisco call manager has better QOS....
-features are better on the avaya like EC500!!!

both are good products.. i guess it depends how much you want to spend

Re: Avaya / Cisco Pros & Cons

Avaya is getting smart about the RTU. They are now have Universal Right To Use (URTU) which eliminates RTU for trunking and only has RTU for stations. URTU for stations include all station types including IP and other stations that used to have individual RTU.

The only problem with the URTU is that say you have 1000 station/trunk RTU in your PBX now. If you upgrade to URTU, they will take the 1000 and subtract the amount of trunk ports you have and that number is your URTU for your stations. Best thing is to remove all your trunks prior to the upgrade so those ports will count as station URTU. Trunking RTU is still there but no longer charged for.
