Fairwell to Octel and Intuity
I'd like to give a fond farewell to traditional VM. (Naval hymn in background)
It's been fun and you've been great but with EOL being announced a while ago and EOS announced today, I'm afraid your time has come. Fairwell the object of my frustration for so many years, and the object I defended the following. It was great while it lasted.

Re: Fairwell to Octel and Intuity
They are at end of sale but not gone for good though. Can you provide some insight for me, please. We have 4 Octel OV250s that the customer wants to network with an MM3400 system using AMIS networking. Is This set up difficult, its been a while since I have worked on an octel. Would you happen to have any instructions? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Rod~ |

Re: Fairwell to Octel and Intuity
Why AMIS? If it's just 250s you should be using Octelnet or Aria Digital Networking. Then you throw a MM Networking server(Intuity interchange) into the mix and it's a snap! (well not really, but I always had fun doing it)
The 250 is an awkward process to set up networking. Unfortunately the best resource is the manual. The menus are confusing and it seems to be redundant. First you have to create the node's profile, which uses one of the 250's (internal)node numbers. DON'T fill in the node serial number. When the node establishes a networking connection to the remote node it will pull the correct serial number(for octelnet networking). The networking SN isn't always the same as the system serial number. You then set up the NODE NUMBER (prefix dialing) in another menu. The whole 'multiple node numbers' thing always messed up the new guys. AMIS isn't fun because it's still analog phone calls. I would be hesitant to take on a task by yourself if you don't have any experience setting up the analog networking in this fashion. If you need assistance PM me, I know some business partners that can give you expert support for less than Avaya.
