Looking for a good (and cheap) professional music on hold device.  Preferably digital.

Look for an MP3 player that supports an AC adapter. I've used the Rio with their AC adapter and most recently Creative's Titanium player. The Rio was better in that it lets you do playlists so you can have your seasonal tracks ready and just change the playlist but the old one the used parallel port instead of USB. We interspersed Music with sales promo spots. The Rio had been running 7/24 for two years when they closed the doors and unplugged it. Use a surge surpressor.

MP3 players are nice because of there are no moving parts. But anything will work. Most PBX systems tie into an RCA jack.

Just make sure whatever you buy has volume control!

This has been moved to Chit-Chat.
Has nothing to do with ASPECT.

We have been using a system called Blast-It! MP3 from a company called Corporate Systems. You can select any mp3 music you have on cd and then store it on a harddrive to play with no moving parts as stated above. Our system hooks up via RCA jacks. We have had 0 downtime on the hold music since replacing the old system with this. The website for this system is http://www.corpsys.com/ They may not list it on the site, but if you call, they still have them.

On Hold Plus digital player works great. We've had them installed in multiple locations for 2 years and have never had a problem. Easy to change the music for seasonal/special events.

I personally like the Promoh from Interalia.
They are work horses, I've had one at my old company for 6 years and it never missed a beat!

Re: Anyone any good music on hold devices?

Hi

If someone can help me identify a good music on hold device to be used with Avaya G700. I could identify following basic requirements for a MOH .

Impedance matching mechanism with surge surpressor.
Headphone Output in form of a RJ11 interface (Preferrably)
Volume Control to adjust the audio output coupled to the PBX on RJ11 interface.
Sturdy and high availability (24x7x365).
Ac feed. 110A (US Standard)
Digital
Auto Reverse functionality.
MP3/DVD/CD playback
Compact and good look.

Thanks in advance for all help.

Regards

Ajay

Why not just use a server or spare computer you have in your computer room next to your PBX and run a program like Winamp, Musicmatch, or (Insert favorite MP3 type program here). No additional costs, unless you have to add a sound card to the machine. Easy to maintain and setup.

Re: Anyone any good music on hold devices?

I use DMX and XM Commercial services for my MoH. Both have a variety of selection, no moving parts, and they take care of all licensing. Can't go wrong there!
