Music on hold

Looking for a good solution to music on hold, I currently have a definity g3si v9 running music on hold from a company named MUZAK charging us $90 a month for music on hold. I am looking for any input on a cheaper but reliable solution.

Re: Music on hold

there is a unit called On-Hold Plus that works great. it is totally digital, no tapes or cd's to wear out or stop playing. You can download music and voice to it via connection to a pc. this allows you to create your own custom messages. pretty cool.

thanks,tim

Re: Music on hold

Do an internet search for "royalty free music" or "buy-out music" and you will find plenty of content you can purchase and legally use. Then it's a simple matter of either playing that content on a server with a soundcard near your PBX, or burn it to a CD and use a cheap CD player on repeat mode, or as suggested purchase a digital looper box.

If you want to mix in corporate onhold messages, there is a GREAT shareware program called MultiQuence (www.goldwave.com) that makes multitrack editing a breeze.

Can't resist...

Hey I see you have your BS in Telecom - me too! I earned my BS from the University of Flim-Flam in Ontario, Canada. In fact, they recently wrote to me and suggested that I apply my current life and career experience towards a Masters of BS.

Peter

PS In case you don't get the joke, in Canada there is no such thing as a BS, we call it a BSc

Re: Music on hold

We have been using XM satellite radio, it has a business account with royaltees included in the monthly rate. Don't know what that is off hand since I don't do budgeting for us. I think it is in the neighborhood of $50.

Re: Music on hold

Hook up to a computer, load up any MP3 tracks you want (which are free to use that is) along with your advertising for products through your company or any voice overs you want and play the audio through there using a program like Winamp. You can then change the "commericals" anytime you want, they're specific to your business and life is great!
