Depending on how many buttons the turret phones you're looking to replace have, then functionally yes you could use 4424D+ phones with 4450DSS units attached, on an IP Office system where you can program speed dial buttons onto the DSS units. This would not work on a Magix though, as the DSS is very inflexible on Magix and cannot be programmed with speed dial buttons (sorry I didn't think of that the other day when you were at my office - smile)

The big thing the turret type systems offer is the kind of redundancy that non-turret PBX's would consider to be overkill. But - you pay big bucks for that.

Re: Turrets

I work at a very large trading firm with a BT turret system (300 position trade floor) which runs behind my Definity g3r 1.3. In the way a true trading operation runs its floor you would be VERY hard pressed to provide the ARD, ring downs fractional t's etc in a blocking switch. The typical turret in our configuration will have 20 pages of ring downs, speed dials, Handsets right and left etc.

IMO the best you can hope to do is get some partial "turret like" functionality. It's not just redundancy it's capacity, provisioning and functionality. Nothing other then a turret system (IPC, BT etc) will perform in a manner a trader expects.

Hi there,
i work for a company called IP trade ( start up ) and we are making IP turrets.

Please take some time to visit the website ( new) www.iptrade-networks.com and post your reactions to me.
If interested we can come and visit your trading room with some ideas about our product and you can see the advantages for yourself.

Please let me know if you want to take it fwd.

Thanks and regards

Re: Turrets

I, like Dunstan, work for a very large financial corporation and we only use Turrets with multiple ring downs, speed dials, OPX lines, etc for our traders.

Depending on how large your set up is and what your traders needs are, you might be able to get by with another solution like those mentioned here, but in my opinion it would be impossible to find a specialized total solution like the Turrets (even though I find them a PITA to work with. ::sigh::)
