2420 phones feature key display
Hey all,
I will frequently program a phone button as Dial [shortcode], and then label it with something meaningfull to the user. However, with the 2420 phones, rather than printing out a sheet of labels, the screen simply displays whatever is programmed for that button. My customer is getting confused, not knowing what to make of "Dial *07*" (example) as a feature button. Long shot, but anyone know of a way to customise what appears on the phone for these buttons?? This is the ReadMe file for Release 3.0 of the Avaya 2420 Telephone software. The release consists of only one file, 2420_R3.bin, which is the binary software image that can be downloaded from the MultiVantage (TM) switch to a 2420 digital telephone. NEW FEATURES in Release 3.0: - Local Editing of Button Labels. The user may locally enter button labels for feature and call appearance buttons to replace the default system labels provided by the MultiVantage switch. This is useful for Abbreviated Dial buttons and Bridged Call Appearances. Note that if the system label is subsequently changed (a new feature is assigned to the button), then the user label will be replaced by the new system label. The labeling ability applies to all 24 buttons on the EU24 Expansion Unit as well as the 24 buttons (3 pages of 8) with display labels on the 2420 telephone. |

This appears to only apply to a MultiVantage. Do you know if this firmware will work for a 2420 on an IP Office system? Would you simply place the .bin file in the manager folder, similiar to the firmware for an IP hardphone? |

I am not sure about IP office, but I assume that since the Firmware is being sent to the phone and not the Communications Manager, that you should be able to upload this firmware to that phone

Re: 2420 phones feature key display
Yep, I know and have some. But others (like defining the call forward number) need to be done with shortcodes.
Now I also find myself wondering how you would go about updating firmware on a 2420 - which is a DS phone not an IP hardphone....? Peter |
