Busy Tone - VoiceMail Pro

Hi All!

Newbie to Avaya, was wondering if someone could give me some help.

Every time a call is made to the main company number, it gets a busy tone, direct calls can be made to specific extensions though, all in all the voicemail pro seems to not be doing its job because it used to pick up the call and play the message, this is not happening now. Everything seems to be normal though.

Any Ideas on how to solve this? it’s extremely urgent and I have run out of ideas...

IP Office Manager: 7.0 (8)
VoiceMail Pro: 5.0 (21)

What is the target for your main number? Vociemail/Auto Attendant? Does voicemail work currently?

The Auto Attendant; basically when you phone the main number, the Auto Attendant answers and then you can press 1/2/3 etc for the various departments. Iv had to redirect the incoming call for that extension to the receptionist because the Auto Attendant does not pick it up and whoever calls gets a busy tone.

Is the voicemail working? Does it pickup when you call?

Do you have a short code to the AA? Does that pickup when you call?

Re: Busy Tone - VoiceMail Pro

The VoiceMail does not pick up when I call, hence the reason for setting up the incoming call route to the receptionist.

There was a short code assigned to that incoming call route before I set it to the receptionist. like a "501", which does not correspond to any of the users or groups. When its set to 501, it just shows the busy tone.

I have realised that the dongle is on a different server aswell, is there anyway I can test that the IP Office actually detects it? the IP is right for the License server and Voicemail server

Im a rookie to telephone systems. ..

Re: Busy Tone - VoiceMail Pro

Pull a config, do your licenses say "invalid"?

Then there is a problem with your feature key server. That should be installed on the VM Pro pc, and have a red icon in the system tray. if it is white with a red "X" through it, then try to stop/restart the services.

Re: Busy Tone - VoiceMail Pro

Yeah! They all say invalid.

I've just checked and the Server that has IP Office installed has no serial port, so the dongle cant be connected there, hence the reason for it being plugged in on another server.
Is there any software that needs to be installed on the other server, sort of agent so that IP Office can find and recognize the dongle? because there is no icon (system tray) on either of the servers

Does the license server and voice mail server IP have to point to the server with the dongle?

PS: restarted the two services and still nothing.

Thanks for the attention!!

Re: Busy Tone - VoiceMail Pro

Look on the voicemail pro pc again. See if there are 2 services:
VMPro DB service
VMPro service

If those are on the vm pro server, then all is on there, as there is a USB dongle. Its red and has a serial number on it.

See here for a step by step way to fix this.

Good luck

Re: Busy Tone - VoiceMail Pro

@marrakech:

Also, if you've got the serial dongle, and your IP Office system has a serial port, you can put the dongle there, and leave the "key server" IP option blank, and your keys are read from the serial dongle.

This is what I'm doing, and works well (until you upgrade your phone system and forget to put it back on, which is how I found this thread!)

@phonedude, thanks for the tip on the license! I completely forgot about that!

Re: Busy Tone - VoiceMail Pro

As per phonedude, we can insert the dongle to the serial port of the IPO, where it recognizes the licenses ..

For VM PRO , We need to activate the license first to communicate between IPO and VMPRO.....

Re: Busy Tone - VoiceMail Pro

we need to connect the dongle to the IPO on the serial port.. and we have configuration about the VMPRO server on the IPO....

Install the VMPRO on a different server and map the IPO server..
