Unhappy Key server not found

How can I troubleshoot key server operation for an IPO 406?
I had uninstall and reinstall HW (USB sentinel) and SW (Key Server itself and Sentinel keys server), I had restarted the computer server. Anything appears to clear the failure.
Windows services indicates the Key Server is running, Firewall is shutdown, everything in IPO regarding Voice Mail Pro had been verified and appears to be OK.
In right down corner I only have Key server icon with a red cross.
Additional info:
PBX is an IPO 406 running 3.2.54 release
Computer Server is running Windows 2003 Server R2 Standard Edition and SP2
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Daniel Escalante.

Re: Key server not found

SP2 is not supported. But that probably isn't the problem.

There are only a few reasons that the feature key will not operate. I am assuming since you mentioned the sentinel drivers, that we are dealing with a USB dongle.

First you have to make sure of the IP address you show in manager pointing to the feature key. If the IP is correct, verify the IP of the machine where the feature key is plugged in. If the PC has the correct IP and the IP in manager is set to look at the same IP. Look in system information at the hardware and see if it is still seeing a feature key or if it sees a mass storage device.

Pull the dongle out. Go into the sentinel drivers and uninstall them. Shut down the PC. Insert the dongle into a different port. power the machine up. redo the sentinel drivers and restart services. It may or may not make you restart the pc again.

That should be it.

I had this same problem an Windows server2003 R2 sp1... It took about 5 or 6 times to get the dongle recognized.

Re: Key server not found

After the last time I removed the dongle and plug it again, the computer indicated a problem with the driver. I put the dongle in another PC just for test, and I got the same problem "Driver failure" or something like that. May it be possible the dongle is damaged?

Re: Key server not found

I wouldnt think so. You could go into system hardware and remove that usb device, and restart.

Re: Key server not found

I just had the same problem on a system I was working on today. Reinstall the admin software.

Once you can start the feature key server, and it goes red showing connected. You might have to play with it. Once connected, make sure the licenses are valid. If they are not, but your feature key is connected, make a change that requires a merge. That will re-validate the licenses.

Re: Key server not found

If the IP address was set to broadcast, that would be a problem. I have seen many techs that do it that way. To me, that is the "duct-tape" way. Have a static IP ALWAYS.
