Trivia: 5600 vs 4600 - 2400 vs 5600
I got a quick question: I don't understand why Avaya would like to use so many model numbers in such little time. Whats the difference of the 5600 vs 4600 and 2400 vs 5400? Avaya claims its because the 56 and 54 uses small business features, etc, etc. Is it because those use DS protocols compared to the 24 and 46 using DCP protocols (last I knew the 4600 IP stations also used DCP switching on top of IP networking). Could this be compared to the 8400/MLX types back in the day? Just wondering.

4600s and 5600s are exactly the same as each other, except that 5600s will only work on IP Office.

Thats where you are wrong.
The 46xx has a wml browser and the 56xx and not also you can,t load the VPN software on the 56xx phones. So you are missing two nice features. We use the web button for a phonebook with active directory So seeing phone number, mobile number e-mail etc. Also we have at home a 46xx with vpn-remote woks great. So we only sell the 46xx serie and show the custemors the diffrence and benefits. Greets Peter |
