Voicemail Pro

Hi everyone,

Sometimes users tell me they don't get their voicemails when they are left for them.

I've just checked just such a case, and the voicemail is in the voicemail pro directory, it's just not informed the user via Phone Manager.

Is there any way I could force Vmail Pro to notify the user or any idea why this is happening?

The server itself is a powerfull one, so the hardware should be fine to handle voicemail demand.

Thanks,

George

Re: Voicemail Pro

Are your clients running WinXP w/SP2 Firewall? Try disabling the firewall, restart Phone Manager, and see if it works. Even though I allowed Phone Manager as an exception it would still not set the message/inbox properly. I disabled the firewall, and it started working like it should.

A work around that I like to use, is to send my employees email notification when they get vmail. That's enabled per user extension.

Re: Voicemail Pro

Good idea, but I looked at that already, and it's turned off.

It's happening on a few random users and only from time to time, not all the time.

Why me, huh?

Re: Voicemail Pro

Check your user names, non alphan numeric characters (!"£$%^&*) etc. can cause strange problems. also a space as the last character of the user name will realy break VM

Re: Voicemail Pro

Hi Cephas,

Nope, the light is not comming on, also, in Phone Manager, there is no notification of new voicemails.

Thing is, when I test it, I can leave a voicemail and the user gets the MW light and, as expected, it shows up in PM.

It's frustrating, cos it doesn't happen all the time, it's very intermittent. So it's hard to pin down the actual cause of this.

I was hopeing it happened to soemone who could say how they fixed it.

Back to the drawing board!

Re: Voicemail Pro

Did you check the items IPGuru mentioned?

He's correct surprisingly often for a resident of that dreary little island off the coast of France...

Re: Voicemail Pro

IP Guru & Cephas,

Thanks for your advise.

I think I've got LOADS of work ahead of me!!!

Nealy ALL the names have a space, seperating first and second names...GREAT! :shame:

Wish me luck, this might take some time!

Re: Voicemail Pro

DON'T PANIC - a space between names is not a problem. A space at the END of the name is disastrous. Check for that and for the non-alpha characters that IPGuru mentioned. Also, make sure all the names start with a letter (no numbers).

Re: Voicemail Pro

Thanks, Peter,

Everything in the name looks fine. No spaces at the end, no non alphanumeric characters.

I think the config needs a good clean up as I've just had a call saying a users voicemail just keeps repeating the callees greeting and doesn't let callers leave a message. Then, when I test it, it's fine.

We got some problems here!

I'll get started on checking every users profile tonight.

Thanks qgain.

Re: Voicemail Pro

For the user with the repeating greeting I would recommend you get them to re-record their greeting - that usually fixes that sort of problem.

What versions of IPO and VMPro are you running?

Re: Voicemail Pro

Got them to re-record the greeting, so far so good...Thank you very much for the tip.

The IPO version is 2.1.31 & Voicemail Pro is 2.1.18

In two weeks, I'll be upgrading it all to version 3, from the IPO to the VM Pro, and from the CCC server to the soft consoles...GULP!!

I'm hopeing that the upgrade will make it a much more stable system and that the new features work without affecting the current features.
