Two phones with same extension?

We have two offices. Office A is running IP406 and B IP Small Office. We have salespeople that will work out of both offices, and would like to have the same extension (and voicemail) at both offices. The installer said they will have to have two extensions - one for each office. Needless to say, it is confusing retrieving voicemail. Can this be done?

Thanks
Tom

Seems like hotdesking would work for this application, unless you wanted the extension to be active at both offices at the same time..

Re: Two phones with same extension?

Hot desking may work, but I'm trying to keep things simple. It would be great if both phones could have the same extension and voicemail, so that the user really doesn't have to do anything. If that won't work, is it possible to program one of the buttons to hot desk, so that the user doesn't have to enter codes? I've got a few technically challenged folks here.

Thanks
Tom

Yep, just program a button with Dial *35*(xxx)*(####)#

Where (xxx)=the extension to login to and (####)= the pin for that extension...Assuming you left the default login shortcode..if you don't want to hard code the pin in you should be able to put in *35*(xxx)*
and tell the users to press the button and then their pin and #.. not sure about the 2nd example.. but I know the First Example works...

Are they set up as SCM? If so, you could have them hot desk at each location.

Re: Two phones with same extension?

But will it work at all between IPO's? I configured in both offices - it works within offices, but not between the two. If hot desking won't work between offices, is there something else that will? It's a real pain for them to have to answer two voicemail numbers.

Thanks

Tom

Re: Two phones with same extension?

;) The only way to achieve this is using ipphone configured to use the same ipoffice or install the new ipdect that allows this functionallity...
