Dial Delay on outgoing calls

How can I get the IP Office to dial an outside line quicker? I can dial a # (91203xxxxxxx) and have to wait about 10 seconds before the number is dialed. If I dial the # and press the pound (#) after the number, the digits are sent right away.

Re: Dial Delay on outgoing calls

What is your Dail Delay Timeout set to in system/telephony?

I would usualy keep this at the default of 1000, or possibly 1500

Re: Dial Delay on outgoing calls

The dial delay timeout is 4000ms at default. If I reduce that too much, the callers will not have enough time to dial the number.

EDIT: I removed the semi colon from the end of the short code and the number dials right away. Thanks for the input .

Re: Dial Delay on outgoing calls

I guess you must be in the US.
the US network requires en-block dialing, this means that the system has to wait for the caller to finish dialing befor the call can be processed & is the reson for the long delay.

you may be able to get around this problem by setting the Dial delay Count to a high number (16 or more) & then reducing the delay count to 1500.
otherwise your short codes will need to correctly diagnose the number of digits required.

Cephas or one of the other Northamerican experts will probably be able to advise further.
