TAPI driver not seen by Outlook 2003?
Hi Guys. I'm installing a 406V2.0 3.00(44), the customer is using Outlook 2003 and wants to 'dial out' only using his contacts in Outlook.
I've installed PhoneManager Lite with the TAPI driver. The TAPI driver is shown in the Windows Control Panel, and is configured for the correct user and password. However, in Outlook 2003, when you right click on a contact, and click 'call', The AVAYA IP Office driver is not listed as an available resource? Any ideas? Thanks, cpF |

Re: TAPI driver not seen by Outlook 2003?
Hi,
I have seen this quite a few times and it is due to an outdated Tapi driver. You will need to get the one which is contained on the user application disk (within the patch folder) and drop it into the C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\TAPI location. You will need to disable the telephony service on this machine before you do this and reboot the machine. Once you have dropped the new driver in and restarted the service then it should work. If not try going to phone and modems and configure the TAPi2 driver - place the users extension number under the user name instead of the username, again restart the telephony service (may require a reboot). This should now work a treat, you don't need Phone manager pro to make this work as it will work with phone manager lite. Regards Steve |

Re: TAPI driver not seen by Outlook 2003?
Hi everyone. I actually solved this one. It's a BUG with Phone Manager 3.0(13), but easy to fix.
Using Phone Manager Lite, loaded the TAPI driver, you can dial out of outlook - no problem. You can't POP to Outlook without PhoneManager Pro. We all know that. Here's the BUG - the TAPI driver loads with the users 'Full Name', not the 'Name' of the user. Therfore, you need to change your TAPI config in Control Panel to reflect the Name not the Full Name. My configs alway use different Names and Fulll Names because AVAYA recommends making the Name as small as you can for the set displays, the Full Name can be more descriptive. cpF |

Re: TAPI driver not seen by Outlook 2003?
... and can we kill the talk of TAPI being part of PhoneManager. You can install the IP Office TAPI driver without needing PhoneManager and vice versa.
Since dialing from outlook uses TAPI, its therefore nothing to do with PhoneManager (Pro, Lite or otherwise). |

Re: TAPI driver not seen by Outlook 2003?
!!!!You think that was condescending, perhaps you should read the starting email in this thread again.
?What was your reason in making accusations or is rudeness just your way. This, and several other threads have shown that some people do confuse the TAPI > Outlook link for dialing with the PhoneManager Pro > Outlook link link for screen popping. Now if you think that attempting to clarify things is wrong, perhaps you could go and start your own forum and talk to yourself rather than shooting down others for tryign to help. |
