modem on ip office
I heard that the mdm2 modem card is not longer needed because the existing ANALOG 4 board have an embedded modem for support purposes. I would like to know if any of you have tried this. and if so, how many simultaneous connections does it support?
Thank you Luis Monzón |

Re: modem on ip office
Haven't tried it but there are some significant differences between the Modem2 option and the ATM4 option.
1) Modem2 = V.90, ATM4 = V.32. 2) Modem2 can be used to answer incoming analog modem calls on any trunk. The ATM4 modem is fixed to the first trunk, and when switched on that trunk can't be used for voice calls. So the ATM4 option is clearly meant only for low speed maintenance access. |

Re: modem on ip office
Unfortuantely you don't have a choice on the SOE, inbuilt modem is all you can have.
Have used it successfully many times, including for remote upgrades but this is risky. Modem is broken on some 2.1 versions (24, 27)
