iPMPro thru an ISA server

I managed to install and deploy VoIP on a LAN using iPhone Manager Pro and USB headsets. The next step would be to allow the usage of the softphone thru our VPN.

I am having a hard time putting it to work. I connected a PC on the external side of the firewall and connected to the VPN (ISA server, PPTP). I am able to log on to the IP Office using iPhone Manager and I can make and receive calls, but there's some problem with the voice path.

First, I can't establish a voice path with any of the codecs except for G.729(a) 8k CS-ACELP. But even with that codec the outside caller listens to a 'cut' speech pattern. At every second the speech path fails. This is not a bandwidth issue, I am connected at 100 Mbps to the ISA server.

I can't figure this out, has anyone experienced this or has any clue about what might be causing it? I am running out of ideas, so any help is appreciated.

Re: iPMPro thru an ISA server

I do, it is your ISA server. I can absolutely cofirm this as I rolled out a world wide IPO project recently and guess what they had (ISA Server). we experienced no end of grief and in the end We convinced them their only option was to remove the ISA server and put CISCO routers in place and we now have NO PROBLEMS with speech paths. If this is not an option for you then ensure you have the correct TCP and UDP port range open and you may well require a microsoft rep to work on your ISA server as it becomes extremely high end work to tune the ISA server to allow this to work properly

Re: iPMPro thru an ISA server

I have been able to get this to work through an ISA server VPNm (pptp). I have had intermittent problems with it but most of the time it works fine.

Have you been able to get this to work at all with your setup? From your original message it sounds like you have no problem at all when opperating within your LAN. Is that correct?

Exclamation Re: iPMPro thru an ISA server

Just a brief update on this one: I uninstalled the QoS packet scheduler from the client machines and now I am able to make phone calls through the PPTP vpn.

But I still have a problem: when someone calls a softphone connected through the ISA server, it is not possible to answer the call. No matter how many times you press the 'answer' button, it just doesn't work. I am also unable to retrieve calls from the park slots.

Weird... Any hints on this one?
