Re: M.on.hold CD-Player
Any device with an audio outpout will suffice, options are a CD player, A CD rom drive in a PC (VM PC is a good candidate) or even an MP3 player.
as to which CD player to use you have 2 options, 1 go for an industrial CD Player (expensive but reliable) or go for a cheap unit & expect to replace it regularly. Alternatively a solid state MPŁ playe should last almost forever. A clasic case of "yous pays your money & you takes your choice"

Re: M.on.hold CD-Player
Watch out how much you spend, generally the industrial CD players are very well built but what you pay the earth for are the digital converters. Ultimatly your not looking at great quality audio down the phone (8bit 11khz?) so you may be better off with a run of the mill domestic seperates solution. An MP3 player would be a perfect solution as already mentioned, at the quality of audio we are talking you could fit hundreds of tracks on a cd.

Re: M.on.hold CD-Player
The real cost is the Broadcast licence required to play any music on hold music that is licenced - you must seek the rights of the artist and pay the royalty broadcast fee to use it. There are certain alternatives such as music >100 years old or something like that: i.e. classical music.
To get decent quality you need something like the Linemaster -> a simple line matching and amplifying unit designed to improve the sound quality and volume from a standard audio source such as CD players when connected to the MOH port of a telephone system. Features: In line volume control for standard AUX units Line isolating and impedance matching Solid state technology Improves the sound quality on your MOH system

Re: M.on.hold CD-Player
Bear in mind that if you just want basic MOH - there is the feature in the IPOffice to uplaod a 30 second (i think?) wav file up to the IPOffice unit - this wave file will then be used as the music on hold - played in a continuous loop.

Re: M.on.hold CD-Player
I know the USB port on the rear of the IP403 isn't used but does it provide power? Potentially it could then be used to power a cheap memory pen type MP3 player with its headset output plugged into the IP Office Audio port.

Re: M.on.hold CD-Player
We have a "run of the mill" CD player (3.5 yrs old now) that we use. We create our own "messages" to play while people are on hold and can change them as needed. No worries about lawsuits or offending someone because of the "station or music" that they happen to hear for the brief 15 seconds while on hold.
