Exporting configuration

Hi,

I've managedto export the configuration from my IPO 412.

Problem is, i can't seem to open them as they are in a .exp file format.

Can anyone help me open these files so I can put them into say Excel, so I can have a hard copy.

Thanks.

G! ;)

Re: Exporting configuration

Choose the "Export as Text" option instead of "Export Configuration Entities"

Re: Exporting configuration

Thanks for that. Peter.

I did that already, i just wondered whether I could easily do the original way as you can specify exactly what details you want exporting.

Looks like I've got some editing to do!!

Thanks again.

Re: Exporting configuration

Hi Guys,

What do you think to export the configuration as XML file? Maybe we could raise such a feature request.

Re: Exporting configuration

Hi Rookie,

Yeah, that would be really usefull, as right now I got to sort through all the data that I don't need ( and, as you know, every config parameter is exported!) and make sure I don't go and miss out anything.

But, if we could go through and select what we want exporting, then that would be so handy.

Re: Exporting configuration

What are you using it for? If it's to move users from one system to another, or upgrade or downgrade platforms then the Export configuration entities is what you want, you just can't view it.

Re: Exporting configuration

As per Moracks post.

The EXP file contains the binary section of the CFG so it can be imported into a new system. it is not easily readable (unless you wish to try & reverse engneer the CFG data structure )

If you are just documenting the system incase a manual retype is ever req. tthen export as text is the only option.
