Distinctive ring?

We have a main reception area, and I need the phone to ring differently depending on which one of the two hunt groups the call came in on.

HELP!

TIA

Re: Distinctive ring?

You can have different words appear on the display, but you cannot make the phone ring differently, sorry.

Are you using softconsole by any chance? I haven't played with it much but it is supposed to have the ability to play different media files through the PC's speakers based on the incoming call.

Re: Distinctive ring?

The problem, is that when things get busy, the receptionist neglects to look down at the phone, and ends up answering the phone inappropriately...

Re: Distinctive ring?

or a script can be used if using SoftConsole - just a text file. I've had to this in some sites and it works well.

Or put an external ringer (bell from 2500 set) in a box under the desk - connected to an analog station port. Put the external bell into only one of the two hunt groups. Not pretty, but will work every time.

Yep, that would do it. Or save yerself the cost of the loud bell, and wire the analog station port directly to the metal frame of the receptionists chair. That 90VAC ringing signal ain't pretty either but it will definately keep her on her toes
