MOH & Radios
I'm looking to replace the MOH on our system (the client doesn't like the 30 second limitation) and was thinking about using music off the radio (The elevator music station etc etc) and was wondering if people have had any problems with this kind of setup. I know I need to be carefull and not pull an RF signal into the mix.. but I was thinking of running the radio in a seperate room and pull just the audio to the system.
Anyone? Also, any suggestions on what radio to use? I'm guessing one with digital tuning, possibly one with a wire antennae? |

Re: MOH & Radios
Most people I know use a CD player, but connecting a radio should be just the same
connect the MOH jack on the IPO to a headdphone skt on the radio & all should work. (remove the MOH file from the manager or this will be downloaded & override the input) Cheasy song sugestions for MOH:- Blondie: Hanging on the Telephone Blondie: Call Me Abba: Ring Ring Has anyone got any more?

Re: MOH & Radios
A radio is identical - I have never heard of any problems inducing an RF signal into the MOH.
More cheasy song suggestions: Gloria (...if everbody wants you, why doesn't anybody answer??) Ghostbusters! |

Re: MOH & Radios
I hate the idea of using a radio for MOH, the only reason is commericals and the fact it's commericals you can't control. At one of my previous jobs, I setup one of the servers which was near the PBX with Winamp (you could use any music program) and loaded some music via MP3's into a list. I then threw in a couple of advertisments for our company such as "Please ask our reps if you might be interested in our new and exciting products... blah... blah" This was nice because we could change it on the fly anytime we wanted and had total control over it.
To me this just made more sense than just tossing a radio onto a system for MOH, but just my thoughts. |

Re: MOH & Radios
Too cheap for a CD player?? They are giving away the portable ones in cornflakes boxes now aren't they? Just kidding - but they are frequently less than $50. Certainly no more than for a decent quality digital tuning radio as you were earlier suggesting.
Ask them how much it's worth to them to avoid having a customer hang up and call someone else 'cause they got tired of listening to static on hold? Peter |
