Redundancy and Power over Ethernet support
Hello,
I have a few questions: 1) Does IP Office support redundancy (or clustering) similar to the S8700 server pair. For example, can you set up IPO servers A and B where they share the same database with server A as active and B as secondary? 2) From reading the other email threads, I understand that IP Office does not support Power over Ethernet (POE). Is this true for all models (403 through to 412) and the latest version 2.1? Thanks in advance! Would also appreciate any public documents with more information on these topics. |

2) It does not provide POE directly off it's LAN ports, no. You can install the power supplies for IP Hardphones in the data closet though. But, that's only limiting you for a maximum of 8 ports anyway. You uplink to a Cajun P333 w/POE and yer off to the races for most of your phones. Peter |

Re: Redundancy and Power over Ethernet support
I prefer to use Power over Ethernet through an external switch like the P333pwr or C364pwr. This because the switch is capable to determine wether a telephone or a PC is connected. In case of a PC the power is not switched on and when a terminal is recognized the power is switched on.

Re: Redundancy and Power over Ethernet support
Yo would also need all your IP phones to be connected through a suitable switch for QoS to be supported correctly, so there is no point in PoE on the IPO.

Re: Redundancy and Power over Ethernet support
That was exactly what I meant, the IP phones need to be conected to the switches, connecting directly to the IPO is not recommended.
