dialing pause
I have a customer with a 403 Unit with Analog telephone lines that is complaining about calls waiting 5-10 seconds before connecting. They dial 9 to get an outside line, then a local 7 digit number, and then they wait for 5-10 seconds. Does anyone know how to shorten the waiting period (I made a few adjustments in Manager, but it seemed to adversely affect the time they were allowed to dial system short codes)?
Also, they are having issues with calls never picking up an outside line at all. Any ideas? |

Your second issue, what do you mean exactly by that?

Re: dialing pause
Is there some way to adjust besides the System>Telephony tab? I adjusted it down to about 1500, which reduced the delay, but there is still a 4-5 second delay to dialing out, whereas the delay for dialing a short code is about 1-2 seconds. Any ideas?
The second issue: customer dials 9, then the 7 digit number, and the call never picks up an outside line, just floats around in dead space. Then they hang up and try it again and it works. could this be a CO problem or does it have to do with a setting in the switch? |

Re: dialing pause
it sounds like the IPO is trying to use unconnected alog circuits
change all unused aloug trunks to a different og line group. to reduce the dialing time try changig the analog data in each line the interdigit pause is currently set to 50 (1/2 a second!) reduce this to somthing like 10 or 5, you will have to experiment to see how low the local CO will accept.

Re: dialing pause
Further to koelemons comments at [9]xxxxxxxxxx, if you don't have ANY requirement to dial 10 digit locals, you can get very explicit with your shortcodes and essentially eliminate the pause.
You want to get rid of the [9]N shortcode. However, this means you MUST ensure you've thought of every possible kind of dialing your customer might do. For example, you'll have to put specific entries for x11, LD, international, etc. Once you've laid out every possibility, your x11 type calls will still have a pause but the 7 digit local (being the longest string of 'x') will match as soon as the last digit is dialed.
