How do you initiate an analog conference?

Ok ... I'm a Definity guy. I've installed a handfull of IP Offices, but 99% of the customers have used 6400 series digital sets. My latest install is mostly analog sets with the IP Office linked to an S8700 via IP Trunking and utilizing their Intuity as a centralized VMail system (very slick).

Here's the question: The customer initiates a call using a Polycomm speakerphone, presses the flash-hook and initiates a second call. The intent now is to press the flash-hook another time and bridge the two call together (ala Definity) but subsequent flash-hooks simply toggle between the two calls. What is the customer doing wrong? How do you facilitate a multi-line conference with an analog set?

regs,

.al.

Re: How do you initiate an analog conference?

Al,

I ran into this issue and ended up making an easily accessible conference bridge - then had the analog phone user make and transfer calls to the bridge - then call the bridge himself. Not exactly slick - but it works every time...

Happy day

Slicker solution... make sure you're running on 2.0.18, go to the extension form for the analog port in question and tick the "Use system defaults" box in the flash hook pulse width section. Then, at your polycom dial the first, flash hook, dial the second, flash hook & you should hear another dialtone. Dial *47 to join everyone into a conference.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers,

Peter
