Conference Calling

We've recently started having an issue with conference calling where we are unable to add a second long distance party to a conference call. We can add any combination (up to six) internal extensions, local calls and one long distance call, but when pressing the conference button after placing the second long distance call it remains as it's own separate call appearance and does not join the conference.

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Thanks for your help. I did look into this, but Public Network Trunks on Conference Call is already set to 5. Any other ideas?

I am betting that it is one of a couple things...what types of trunks are involved? If they are T1/PRI then change "disconnect supervision out" on one or both of them to yes. The other problem could be COR related, make sure both trunks' CORs can talk to eachother or it won't work.

I believe you're right about disconnect supervision out. I did try this yesterday, but it did not seem to work. However, I did notice in the manual that the T1 needs to be provisioned for answer supervision. I called our LD provider and as it turns out the T1 is not provisioned as such. I've requested for this to happen, which will take the standard 5-10 days, but will let you know if it works. Thanks again for you help.

Yeah if Disconnect Supervision on the trunk IN and OUT are yes then I would guess that is it...check the CORs though to be sure. Sometimes it is referred to as "battery reversal" depending on the CO and trunk types but it will put the clamp down on trying to bridge two trunks together everytime. If it is happening when the same trunk is involved with both external calls then it s almost certainly the supervision not being set, keep us updated, i am curious if that fixes it.

It is with the same trunk, long distance calls only. I'll be certain to let you know when I find out.

It was indeed the T1. Our long distance provider changed Answer Supervision from NO to YES and we are now able to add multiple long distance calls to a conference call. Thanks for you help.

Awesome! Glad it is working, that darn disconnect supervision causes a lot of headaches!
