Remote Message Access

I have an Intuity Audix R4 and I want to be able to check my messages when I call in to the office. When I am transferred to my mailbox it only gives me the option to leave a message and I can't access my messages. Does anyone know how this is done?

Once you get the option to leave a message try pressing *.

Nothing happens when I hit * or *7 I think there might be some programming missing. I forgot to mention this is on a Merlin Magix switch.
