Question Export Vectors?

I know ProVision will copy vectors to other systems. and CallFlow will export for documentation. Are there any others?

I wish ASA had this feature.

The only other thing I've used is CMS to copy vectors from one ACD to another ... both of which were connected to the CMS.

Don't hold your breath. I've been asking them to have the PBX's sync with an external time source (or at least one another) for the better part of the last 10 years. Even the old Rolms call the atomic clock every night. Time sync is sort of important in a virtual call center environment.

Another peeve is the *T transfer deal. You would think that there'd be a vector command like "disconnect after digits xxxxxxxxxx" but you have to place the DTMF tones in an announcement (read: kludge) in order to make this work from a vectored auto-attendant (Not so bad anymore with VAL ... I have a program to create DTMF .wav files ).

Off-topic here, but you get my drift on "slow development" or more aptly put "development prioritization."

Re: Export Vectors?

This may be old news by now but you can create a template from a vector in ASA and use the template to create new identical vectors. Saves lots of time typing.

Re: Export Vectors?

I'm on an 8700 using version 2.1.1 My ASA release is R1.13.05

In ASA, look to the left side in your browser, you may have to hit F9 if you don't already have it up. You have three buttons General, Advanced and Fault & Performance under the "tasks" tab.
Click on Advanced
Click on "Create New Template"
Enter a description for your template
Select an object, in our case a vector
chose the radio button for "copy data from existing Voice System object" and choose the vector you need to copy.
enter the number of the vector you need to copy and press OK
if you havn't already logged in you login now and the template will be created.
Now you go back into the Advanced button and click on "Use Template"
Choose object type vector
Choose the template you just created for the box labeled "Based on template"
Enter a vailid number press OK and your done.

The process takes less than 30 seconds and now all you have a vector that you can edit for that new call center in minutes.

Re: Export Vectors?

Interesting I'm using AIM 2.1 - and only the vector name and the Y/N's are copied. Not the vector steps.

Re: Export Vectors?

ASA 1.9.6 -

It works perfectly. "Use Template" creates a new vector with all the steps included.

Re: Export Vectors?

Sorry, not familier with AIM. The GEDI mode of ASA can quickly give you reports based on station name or coverage path, and the are exportible to EXCEL or whatever. The advanced features get you object copying via templates as discussed and easier report running and scheduling. We upgraded from 7.0 to 11.3 and all this new stuff really impressed me. I know, I might need to get a life.

Re: Export Vectors?

I applied a patch to my AIM and now the vector templates are working - which is great. Though for bulk changes, I still prefer Visual Vectors. I just wish there was a table format in visual vectors as oppose to just visual objects. Ususally, I create a "Master Template" vector on the PBX, export it to a scratch pad (I have my scratch pads organized by Line of Business/Call Routing Type) in Visual Vectors and then import it as needed. I would just prefer to import vector CSV files or copying vector steps from excel to Visual Vectors. Sigh, how I miss ProVision.

Depending on the scenario either Using a Vector Template or Visual Vectors will cover the options pretty well.

For the 600+ vector changes (total of like 8,000 steps) I need to make this weekened, GEDI and Scheduling is the way I'm going. ..with lots of diet coke.

-Chris

P.S. ASA and Avaya Integrated Management (aka: AIM)... Depends on who you talk to in AVAYA as to whether they'll refer to it as ASA, AIM or "ASA in AIM"...

Re: Export Vectors?

from my way the best way of doing it online is through CMS console, it reduces the risk of errors and its real fast, if the vector steps are almost identical.

Re: Export Vectors?

The PBXs are on different CMSs - thus CMS terminal is out.
