hunt group voicemail

I am setting up a hunt group that will have four or five extensions in it. To test it out, I set it up with the extensions in my department. When it goes to leave a voicemail, it says please wait for extension xxxxx (which is the operator). Then it transfers me to the operator. I set the coverage path to 4, which is what all of the extensions are setup to. What am I missing?

Re: hunt group voicemail

What does a list trace show you?

I assume 4 is the voice mail hunt group.

Re: hunt group voicemail

what would i run for this? i'm not sure what to do since it's a hunt group and not a station, vdn, or vector. I didn't see an option for hunt group.

Re: hunt group voicemail

no i don't. is that necessary? i'd really rather it went to one of their voicemail boxes and not one for the main number - if it goes to the extension for the hunt group then they won't know when they get new voicemail right?

Re: hunt group voicemail

Just like wellco says, setup a vm box, subscriber extension is the hunt group number.
Coverage path in the hunt group to the vm.
In the station form from the hunt group members on page 1 Message Lamp Ext: XXXXX [huntgroup ext], for the message light main number
Use button name [mwn act] in the button assignments form for the individual message light.

Re: hunt group voicemail

Billy...set up a mailbox for the hunt group..do either what peter said..or you can just put an "auto-msg waiting" button on the phones in the hunt group. Then all the users will know if there is a message in that mailbox and they can retrieve the message. It works well that way for small groups like this due to the fact if one is gone the others know there is a message.
Good luck !!

While Wellco is correct and the best method is to create a seperate mailbox for the hunt group with an aut-msg-wt lamp on the users' phones, there is a way to get calls into a specific mailbox using vectoring:

A) Create the vector below
B) Create a VDN and assign it the the vector created in A
C) Create a Coverate Path with the VDN as Point 1
D) Assign the Coverate Path to the Hunt Group (or station, etc.)

Vector:
1) wait time 0 seconds hearing ringback
2) messaging skill xx for extension yyyy
3) stop

Where xx is the Messaging Hunt Group Number and yyyy is the mailbox that you wish to place the caller into.

The seperate mailbox for the hunt group method is best because the personal greetings, etc. for the individual user's mailbox is not confused with the hunt group. Additionally, this is handy for someone who might have multiple extension numbers (like some of those eccentric executives out there that wants a spereate "private line" DID number) but only wants to maintain a single mailbox.

regs,
